Rajat Nama completed his undergraduate studies in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2022. Following his graduation, he embarked on a doctoral journey at the University of Oxford in 2023, supported by funding from Westinghouse Electric and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Rajat's research focuses on advancing our understanding of zirconium alloys, crucial materials for light water reactors. Using a combination of techniques including Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Transmission Microscopy (STEM), Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS), Transmission Kikuchi Diffraction (TKD), and Density Functional Theory (DFT), he investigates how alloy composition and irradiation damage influence corrosion mechanisms in these alloys.
